Curiouser and curiouser! said Alice…
All the science fiction I’ve read in my youth hasn’t quite prepared me, as I’d thought it might, for this mangled reality we’re seeing presented here…where the word surreal seems to grow stale and any attempt to suss out any given situation through “normal” means tends to throw ones mental breakers. Seems past time for a re-wire.
These aren’t the intelligent, resourceful antagonists that I’ve come expect. No crafty, criminal masterminds to make the situation interesting…always outsmarting the hero and one step ahead… I tend to prefer more intrigue in my fantasy… At least give one or two of the bad guys some brains, some goals that make sense. Eternal life is it? On THIS plane of existence? Trapped in a digital, re-writable box? Not interested! Haven’t these guys ever read an Anne Rice novel? It’s not ideal.
No, what we seem to be be dealing with here are competing groups of mental midgets with swollen egos and no concept of foresight, brute forcing their way through a sleeping population employing a dangerous, emerging technology that they don’t understand…that they CAN’T understand. They’ve erected their ivory towers on top of glass houses with driveways paved with stones…
And if it’s a demon that’s responsible for putting these idiots in charge of this … please someone send a note to Lucifer with his name on it, so someone can call him out…
Is there an HR department in hell, btw? That would seem to make sense… Let’s make sure we get a competent demon next time…
Maybe hell needs a new devil…
