I just discovered this after I clicked on a twitter link from our forum this morning. Elon, a master of ‘bait and switch’.
I never liked him, never trusted him, never will.
I tend to think it will be temporary. Less traffic can’t be good for that kind of site. I’m sure a few people will join, but after a certain amount of time, he will lose a lot of views from a lot of people who read tweets but don’t care enough to sign up. I guess it depends on what the data says… For me, I have no plans to sign up and if he doesn’t make it public, than that’s the end of that.
I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but Twitter limiting the amount of tweets you can read seems to have happened around about the same time as most Reddit third party apps had their 3rd party API tokens revoked. Apparently Reddit was being scraped and used by all AI software as a source or input of information. I wonder if Twitter was suddenly overloaded with AI software trying to use the service and scrape information.
