I understand what you’re saying about JD as a comedian. I went to see him when he did a gig at a comedy club in Liverpool back in the summer. His wife did the warm up spot before he came on and her gags were funnier than his. She could turn her astute observations into humour without preaching at the audience. I don’t really know any other of today’s US ‘comedians’. Bill Hicks was superb, as was George Carlin.
