Hill Pressclips: Next Stop Genocide

With thanks to Michael Arrias over at Mondoweiss.

The Biden administration’s announcement to cut off aid to Gaza came on the same day that the UN’s top court ordered Israel to prevent genocidal acts in Gaza, and a U.S. court began hearing a lawsuit accusing Israel of genocide (Palestinians are taking the Biden administration to court this week – Mondoweiss):

Atmospheric river greetings from California and thanks for checking in . . . I dug out my old umbrella from London and it works! My hair gets a bit wet, but I’m essentially staying safe and dry in the hills. Thanks for your thoughts.

This piece documents the failure of the Israel Aid Bill in the US House of Representatives. The Congressional Progressive Caucus condemned the proposed $17.6 billion in unconditional assistance for Israel, accused internationally of committing genocide in a Gaza:

2/9/24 Hi from California, dear Gizas. The umbrella is now stowed in back of the Subaru, and my everyday sunglasses are at the ready on the visor. Thanks so much for checking in on me and your kind thoughts and prayers during our atmospheric river spills.

Initial thoughts on the interview last night: I was impressed by Putin’s remarks about the Nord Stream pipeline, Boris Johnson’s obstruction of the Istanbul agreements, the multiple expansions of NATO (see map below), and the repression of the Orthodox Church in the Ukraine. I was struck by the contrast between Putin’s articulate sweep through history and Biden’s oratorical incontinence.

Here’s the full interview on X and a transcript found on the Kremlin website:

Some Summary Notes – thanks to Kevin over at ehack:

P.S. My Hmmmmm for the day:
What were they not saying?
Conspicuous by its absence from the interview discussion, for the purposes of this thread, at any rate:
There was no mention of Gaza-Israel/ US-Iran wars.
