It smacks of the fallout of (the highly disgusting and unethical!) chimeric research that is going on worldwide. I can see no ethics at all in that line of work.
This news story is a symptom of an endpoint, along with transhumanism, of our civilization’s debauched attitude that animals and humans are mere commercial objects to be exploited materialistically.

Not just the animals and plants are commodified – we people are as well.
Many people just think that we are the “crowns of creation” – but we have all been commodified, and certainly no commodity is any kind of “crown”.
Whatever mindset is applied to non-human living beings is also being applied to humans.
I may be somewhat idealistic, but I sometimes like to imagine what our world could be like when we start to regard ALL life as sacred — if that were the mindset, would anyone even be willing to work for entities that commodify and abuse and experiment on qnd violate other living beings and their living habitats? How would that change how we regard one another and how we regard living systems, the air we breathe, the water we need to drink, the food we use to nourish ourselves? Why are many religious organizations afraid to even bring forth such ideas? That’s what baffles me – how churches focus on cultivating a regard for people only, and meanwhile look at the destruction of life around the whole planet, with this chimeric monstrosity upon us now – where this (and all the trans mutilation surgeries on young people) is now what’s before us, where the tax money gets channelled. No one talks about these things, because it is absolute and utter taboo to regard non-human living beings as anything other than commodities – and to me, that is the absolute foundation to the whole TRANS thing (Trans-gender, Trans-human, Trans-Genetic, etc…)
