If true, this definitely not good on so many levels and in so many domains. Teen boys are dating their AI chatbots—and experts warn it could kill their careers | Fortune

It wouldn’t surprise me if something like this is going on — worldwide – wherever people are connected to the internet…

I came across the site of a blogger (with a PhD) who credits a “female” AI for helping him with his blog posts, and speaks of “her” as if “she” were a sentient girlfriend of some sort. This is rather mind-boggling to me.

And, a weird pattern is playing out among many people we know, whereby younger generation adult members of their families are being diagnosed with varying degrees of psychoses, to the point where they are no longer capable of functioning, and have to be cared for by their parents. How much of this is brought about a chain reaction of school ideological indoctrination (= “No Think”) which then leads to abject loneliness (due to time spent on internet, because one doesn’t have to “think” on the internet) versus the drugs now freely available (to assuage those feelings of loneliness) is difficult to pin down. But the trend is very stark, and very disturbing.

Robert had posted an essay in which Mark Keenan offered thoughts about what happens when people connect their minds to AI systems, how they lose their thought. It seems that AI systems offer intellectual spaces that are perceived as being “safe” (i.e., no one contradicts you, no one argues with you, everything you say is “affirmed”). A real human being is never going to agree with everything you say, think, or do, and there is going to be intellectual discomfort with every human being with whom one engages. If people are scrapping real human contact in order to engage with AI, then this is what happens – you get people choosing AI “mates”, and then, next thing you know, those people line up for MAID. I would not be surprised if the modern “Woke” Culture is completely hooked into AI systems, as they cannot handle human feedback at all.

Rod Dreher, in his book “Live Not By Lies” (p. 103) interviewed a Ukrainian couple who immigrated to the USA, and they offered thoughts about what it was like living in a culture of lies:

“In high school and middle school, we had to write essays, like normal school kids do… But you never could write what you think about the subject. Never, ever.”
… When a people grow accustomed to living in lies, shunning taboo writers, and conforming to the official story, it deforms their way of thinking…

Been to Mt. Athos, very beautiful and awe inspiring place and challenge to reach. Sounds like the monk has baggage though :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
