I totally agree with your second pont., that Putler doesnât control his millitary in totality. My hypothesis is that he tries to remove the influence of GRU over RU army in a favor of KGB, a more benevolent part of Russian Deep State. I know I said it! KGB in a long run is the lesser evil than GRU, at least as much as my research goes.

First I would like to point out that the Ukraine was not part of the Warsaw Pact but was part of the USSR.
Second, the Donetsk Peopleâs Republic and Luhansk Peopleâs Republic declared independence and were previously united under the Novorossiya confederation from 2014 to 2015.
This declaration is similar to the Kosovo and Serbia situation:

The recent vote on annexation probably is as trustworthy as many other nations processes. Who knows, but the history and culture is mostly Rus.
It is interesting that the present mantra of the globalists is that anything that is contrary to the globalist narrative is âanti-democracyâ- Except when the vote goes the other way.

When I was last in Russia, Russians told me that GRU & FSB are much worse than KGB; hard to imagine, but I take their word for it. They have to live with it every day so, no dispute from me.
