I suppose in the corporate world, excommunication is the same as fired by the “boss”? Will security be called to escort them out of the church, than arrange for their reputations to be targeted as not eligible for hiring by another “corporation”. The world’s presstitutes are forbidden to publish any notices of future activities? Their groupies are persona non grata too.

So is this a case where God told him to excommunicate them or a case where The Pope makes a decision and as long as God doesn’t say anything or give some sign to the contrary (and could we please see the official list of those contrary signs unless of course those are some kind of Vatican Secret that us common folk aren’t allowed to know about) then everything is Okee Dokee?
The Pope is on the hook to demonstrate how to deal with dissidents or the edifice crumbles on the projection of power and who has it. He will be backed up by other charlatans by any means at their disposal. A hierarchy with an “invisible” boss at the top with billions of believers, sanctions most any decision by the “management”.

Excommunication maybe more akin - to a badge of honor.
If I were such a Romanist traditionalist, it would be a badge of honour, rather like “non-canonical” is for many Orthodox. All lightheartedness aside, I do hope and pray that this will spark a GENUINE examination of papal claims among those traditionalists, and that they will realize that they are spurious and the CAUSE of their situation. Time will tell, but that is my hope, and also my prayer.
