… This reminds me of a joke … this is the short version …
A priest dies and is admitted to Heaven. When asked by St. Peter what he would like to do now he asks Peter if heaven has a library. “Of course!”, Peter replies and offers to show the priest where it is. Upon arrival the priest says “Thanks, now leave me alone.” Peter sends an assistant by the library, every millennium or so, to check on the priest and see how he is doing. Several millennia go by and every time he is asked how things are going the priest simply replies “Fine thanks, leave me alone.” After one of the millennial checks Peter’s assistant is only a few feet down the hall when he hears the priest let out an incredible scream of pain and agony. The assistant runs back thinking how can this be in heaven? The assistant looks in the library and sees the priest at the reading table, collapsed over an ancient manuscript sobbing. The assistant quietly asks him what is wrong. The priest looks up at the assistant and points at a line of text in the manuscript. The assistant looks at the text and then back at the priest and says to him that he doesn’t understand why the priest is troubled. The priest yells back at the assistant, “Look, look … there’s been an error, a typo, I knew it, I knew it”, “it says celebrate NOT celibate!” So much for jots and tittles.
If the priest had desired a wife, he could have converted to Orthodoxy. (or the Anglican faith)
