Given that according to the Architect of The Capital, “No law, written rule, or regulation specifies who may lie in state; use of the U.S. Capitol Rotunda is controlled by concurrent action of the House and Senate. Any person who has rendered distinguished service to the nation may lie in state if the family so wishes and Congress approves.”
Maybe we want to be considering legislation that would prevent certain persons from this practice.
That Harry Reid was allowed to lie in state in the rotunda was galling given his activities.
A suggested list of those not to be allowed the privilege:
Bush the II
D. Cheney
Bill and Hillary Clinton
B.H. Obama
J. Biden
K. Harris
N. Pelosi
These are but a few. I’m sure there are others. Just an idea.
