Thank you for sharing a very poignant analogy for what’s unfolding with the church. It seems that
Someone is working very hard to utterly destroy the church as a grounding pillar in civilized life. I can’t help but think of your book “Nazi International”… and wonder if there’s an overlying dimension in this phenomenon. There are bits and pieces of this that would make for a good vid chat question.
Although, time and again, to further your analogy: Some children from abusive families have banded together to form a wall against the abusive parent, and somehow kept themselves sane and supported one another through times of turbulence.

Thank you, Dr Farrell, are you familiar of a small 1954 , 87 page book called ‘Facts Are Facts ‘ by Benjamin Freedman ? I do have questions perhaps for a vidchat pertaining to things explained in this book, in particular pages 19, 25, 27 & 28. If you are familiar with this book, is there validity to it’s message? If you are not familiar with this book I will come up with a few questions in the future.

I prefer the old printing press too. But I have a kindle. Often I have a hard copy and a Kindle copy except novels or how to do books. Your writings fall into the category of High Information as well as many of the other authors I read. If I am researching a topic, I can quickly scan thru dozens of books for the topic. I can offer quotes and support for a postulate with proper attribution. Most people aren’t gonna sort thru their stack of books and quote sources online because it’s a horrible inconvenience for them…
And I can pull out any number of books to read in the coffee shop since I have my library with me.
Not ideal and sans the kinesthetic pleasure of turning a tree shaving, but it’s productive and convenient.
I do not trust ANY ebook platform, as they change the formating of my books, which I take great pains to curate. Remember: the ONLY canonical form of my books, as I’ve said often, is the HARD COPY. People see a book, and its advertizing for me. People see a phone, and I lose not only my formatting, but a potential reader.

I appreciate reading the books on archive.org as it allows access to highlight, then do an internet search for unfamiliar words and concepts which helps facilitate understanding the text and context the writer used to convey the message. That feature is great for someone like me who does not have a voluminous memory or huge exposure to the human knowledge base.

We need an online steward of old books.

I’ve been reading Jungian and archetypical literature as long as I can remember. The market is flooded with authors and books that are sub par and not to the standard of the old authors. They push the old market off line. Out of print books exist at exceedingly high prices
I literally have PDFs of 100s of out of print books that are barely legible. Poor scans of poorly published books. Gone. No print. No more. I’m not going to deny myself access to information that the average Joe doesn’t exist because all he knows is the best selling author on the top shelf that Barnes and Noble tells me is the expert

My survival and vocation require I have access to information that few care about and get that information in my head and useable. I know people, in general, do not deep dive this type of information Most aren’t wired to do it.
I have 100 years of economic magazine on microfilm. Digitalized. I can see the same memes, fields of disinformation being repeated over and over again. If you stay with a hardline it has to be physical model, you have cut yourself off to access
This is a form over substance argument Different needs, different goals.
I prefer the old ways but not at the cost of cutting off access to the good stuff
Musicians aren’t doing albums and many authors not writing books. They release one or two songs or writing serials. Individual chapters and releasing them
The change of technology is a wave the size of a tsunami.
I don’t want to loose my soul any more than any of you want to. I’m also not going to stand in front of a tsunami waving my hands yelling bad. Go away.
I adopt what’s useful to my journey as you will do for yours.
