ABOUT THE THEFT OF THE FRENCH IMPERIAL CROWN JEWELS

Originally published at: ABOUT THE THEFT OF THE FRENCH IMPERIAL CROWN JEWELS

I have been intending to blog about the recent brazen theft of the Imperial French Crown jewels from the Louvre in Paris, but other stories have intruded, but I decided that this week, whatever else may happen, that I have to blog about it, because there is something about this whole story that like so…

Yep, it looks like a “quick win” due to a multiplicity of forensic evidence left behind. Kill two birds with one stone by taking known thieves out of circulation while demonstrating the super competence by the gendarmerie due to the challenge of having no passports or identification papers being left behind. A feat of forensic brilliance. I believe up to 150 pieces of DNA related evidence was retrieved… we not are not told specifically from where though😉 Inspector Clouseau is bursting with Gallic pride. I wonder if the translation know-how, has been passed down…?
If so, is there a connection to…

And just like that, couple days before this latest jewelery heist, Twitter/X was plastered with posts from Burbon family offering their services if France demands it.

“The situation has never been so serious; the Fifth Republic is on the verge of collapse. My family has served France for centuries, and if France calls upon me, I will be at its service. The indispensable condition is that France desires the return of the monarchy - a monarchy… pic.twitter.com/ykulhzZNSr

Some of the latest:

“We do not rule out the possibility of a larger group, including a person who commissioned the theft and may have been the intended recipient of the stolen jewels,” [prosecutor Laure Beccuau] said.

There is no evidence at this stage in the investigation to suggest the heist was an inside job, she said. [Just had to point that out? Hmm…] (Source: https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20251029-paris-prosecutor-promises-update-in-louvre-heist-probe)

On first reading about the story, I wondered if there’d be some kind of immigration angle to it, for whatever purpose – maybe to inflame social tensions further (as if it could get much worse…) or to get judges to go easy on the perpetrators. The suspects are reported to be from Seine-Saint-Denis, parts of which are known/infamous for being very “multicultural.” Not surprising in and of itself.

“It’s a difficult case for everyone” with a “right to a fair trial that is difficult,” in particular due to its being ultra-publicized, Nadia El Bouroumi, attorney of one of the suspects in the Louvre heist who is currently in police custody, said Wednesday. (Cambriolage du Louvre : fin de garde à vue et de l’enquête sur la sécurité du musée, point presse du parquet ce mercredi, sentence beginning « C’est un dossier difficile . . . », my translation).

@QVBB I only saw your post after I typed mine. About the Bourbons, we’re thinking along the same lines!
