I just recently saw this (2001 Space Odyssey ) at home and was taken by the elaborate and vivid colored sets on the spaceship. I paused the player several times to make a brief study to detect any hokeyness, or cheapness in the execution in this regard and saw none. Then of course the “chilling” realization when Hal first showed signs of his, (or some else’s ?) willfulness.
