Interesting little case study in pop culture.
The general consensus is that the Archie character was meant to be hated, given his portrayal as a racist, not that bright dinosaur. Problem is people loved him.

People loved him because he said was he was thinking. This was the beginning of “conservative white man bad” syndrome. Remember, “Meatball” (son in law) is one of the most bigoted left-wing activitsts on the show AND IN REAL LIFE. We should have been paying attention. Hollywood has always been showing what that crowd is thinking.

My Grandmother loved the grandmother in that show. (The Jeffersons) I think they wore the same wig LOL.
