17-year-old Juliane Koepcke was sucked out of an airplane after it was struck by lightning in 1971. She fell 2 miles to the ground, was strapped to her seat, and survived 10 days in the Amazon Jungle.

Truly, we are fearfully and wonderfully made, as David said.
We can survive given impossible odds, yet, a hard fall & a seemingly mild concussion can end a life in about an hour. (Thinking Natasha Richardson.)
