Amazon has just cancelled The Giza Death Star Revisited book

It supposed to arrive today but Amazon just cancelled it. Anybody know where to buy in Europe? Britain and the USA are no option due to outrages import taxes I simply can’t afford anymore.

Oh no! I can’t afford to get it mailed to the UK. Amazon is still offering the pre- order option, wonder if they cancel after holding on to the £ for a while.

Why on earth would they “cancel” it?

@uintatom
This is the reason given.
Due to a lack of availability, we are unable to obtain the next item in your order

Hmm.
You tried Adventures Unlimited?

:eyes: @vardas3 !!

@uintatom
Adventures Unlimited is US based. I live in Europe, if I order thru them a 20$ book becomes a 120$ book due to import taxes!
I did that when I still could afford such outrages prices but I can’t anymore!!

I pre-ordered on January 31st from Amazon, still showing release date as 25th August with no actual delivery date.

All I can suggest is to see if there is a paid version where you are that is similar to what the Irish post office provides for free but with user fees. That company offers you a US address where things can be sent (at US shipping costs) and then mailed to your European address. The post office agrees with the customs service that all these are sent there first. I only pay charges on shipping costs inside the US and whatever other customs fee is on the package. The Post Office also charges a bit for their service. So my copy only cost me 15 or so extra Euros, not including the original purchase price. Before the post office did this, several companies offered this same service for a fee, although I have no idea if they work with the customs office. I do no know if anything like this is listed in your country.

I do know. From my publisher, Amazon has a meltdown regarding postings, printing, and other services. Most small publishing houses were using them for printing and listing books. Now they all have to switch to another company (which is swamped) because Amazon laid off so many people they cannot fulfill their contract obligations. A book my husband and I wrote was delayed after being announced as coming out this month. For this reason, as were the rest of their titles, some are already listed.

So Amazon has been dropping the ball on many contracts and services. Eventually, our books will be back on Amazon, I suspect Joseph’s will be too. Please write Adventures Unlimited directly and ask them, as they may know the issue.

Wonder if all the strikes have had anything to do with this.

$100 import tax for a $20 book is an outrage, how dare they charge that!?

Oof.
I was going to offer to send it to you when I was done reading it but I’m in the US.

Is that tax for a specific country in Europe?

Maybe that can be avoided if the book is being sent by an individual instead of a company.

@Bahri
Yes, it differs from country to country. Belgium has gone bonkers with imports from outside the EU.

I just ordered my copy from Adventures Unlimited Press!

Do you live outside the US?

@RhebaRhae
Yes, Belgium.

Sorry Biz, I was directing the question at @yyyyythats6ys and didn’t do it properly.

So sorry about you getting the book. Seems like the noose just gets tighter. Have you read the thread about what is happening in Canada?

You know, this is one of those times when an e-book might work, but totally understand the @vardas3 good doctor’s reluctance concerning changing his words/meanings/context. Wonder if he and Adventures could do something for those in the EU and elsewhere in this situation.

No, I live in the United States. I apologize I missed your message. Are you an Ebayer? That might be an option.

No not an ebayer. Have the book; reading it now. Just trying to help those outside US who can’t get the book. Our now reality.
