The Australian government has fallen asleep at the wheel over the decrease of oil tankers due to the Strait of Hormuz affair. For years there has been questions asked, even a Senate enquiry in 2011 (?) asking what steps are in place for a then hypothetical closure of the Strait and the country’s own oil reserves. Apparently over the last 20 years Australia has relinquished (or severely reduced) its ability to produce its own fuel by closing down oil refineries around the country in the ridiculous Net Zero policy. And there has been no definitive answer on how many days reserves we have in such an emergency.
Now the main question is about diesel and where to get it from as it will no doubt shut down the country (and ruin the economy) if there is none. I suspect we are heading for a Mad Max type scenario in Australia - how ironic since Mad Max was created here.
