Colby’s threat is an obvious exercise in the pyschological term of “projection” and the the concomitants error which can arise.
Colby is projecting the mindset of structural and localised power centres which can be threatened with regime change or destroyed. The very same error made in attempting “regime change” in Iran. The regime was neither localised in geography, governance structure, economy, military deployment and weapons manufacturing/ siting. The dual attack of an internal colour revolution/ uprising and external miltary attack had been anticipated, planned for and organised/implemented using a distributed autonomous network.
In focusing on the Vatican with a similar polictical/ miltary threat, that same “projection” of the US political/miltary elite mindset, based on its own experience and understanding of itself, is again misapplied to the arena of reality. The Vatican is not the power base for the RC church, the body of the Church is that power, especially so arising from the recents decades of scandals. The Vatican can only wield a moral force on its church membership, period. When it loses moral authority (e.g. post Vatican 2 and its sequallae), the Church either falls away completely, or returns to its origins and tradtions where it begins regrowth ( which is happening now with a serious uptick in new baptism in those more traditional parishes and dioceses).
In other words. the RC church is an even more globally distributed network than before.
Colby has not only missed the point completely, having offered a meaningless threat, but has opened further the US political elite kimono, not that there is much additionally in fact to be seen, but nevertheless, for those not already acquainted with those nether regions, it will be very eye opening experience of the US deep state personality.
For the USA’s enemies and rivals, it is an object lesson and revelation regarding the strategic paradigm under which US power and miltary operate and a lesson that Iran (5000 year civilisation and where 80plus% of student alumni population hold a Master’s degree) with its to year experience of same had learned to cope with. To win, you just have to prepare for and survive the initial onslaughts.
