Most gasoline stations these days only have two or three days of product in stock, and so they must price gasoline at what it will cost to refill their underground tanks. This is undeniable economic term known as “replacement cost". Compounding the problem has been the reduction in domestic oil production in America.
Every $10 increase in the price of a barrel of crude oil adds about 24 cents to the cost of a gallon of gasoline and is quickly reflected in what is paid the local gas station’s pump. It’s not price gouging. Still, the price of gasoline is nearing, and may exceed any previous inflation-adjusted highs.
Yep and might be a bit low. Probably at least 35 cents now. As the price goes higher, the price per gallon onto a $10 increase bbl gets higher, percentage wise.
Yeah, at this point only the ‘sky’ is the upper limit.
A lot depends upon what un-Trudough allows, since most US crude was being imported from Canada.
