Re-hash of a lot of myths, a little about the Nazi hiding out here, and Admiral Byrd’s expedition. Very little about Antarctica overall, and for good reason. I spent 2, so-called ‘summers’ there, been to all the major bases and a couple of places that are very isolated. It is a very, very harsh environment. Lots of scientific communities from various countries are there, some over-winter there too, and that means a lot of flights over the continent. Why not show us some sharp photos, and interviews with the pilots? They have some sophisticated radar, and other gear. Where are the underground caverns?
The small crews who over-winter in Antarctica describe how they struggled to stay focused and maintain their rational thought due to the extreme conditions, and extreme isolation. The knowledge that when mechanical things break-down their chances of survival are very low.
So, those are factors that most likely provide the best insights into how difficult it will be for humans to travel into SPACE for extended periods of time in an extreme environment.
