Private communities, like this are the wave of the future. What was old, message boards, might come back.
A space where algo’s are not throttling good content. A space where algo’s are not collecting geopolitical and market sentiment (which creates noise and algo counter trades against the retail guy) and are used to control the public. A space where foreign actors can’t over power the algo’s and create 100’s of fake accounts like fake dollars, impersonate people and infringe on other people’s idea’s.
I watched private communities like this go under as the lure of social media became irresistible. If the message board didn’t offer the information, information seekers (lurkers) were seeking, they went to where they found the information they wanted. Getting information that confirms your bias on anything, feels good. And they were never interested in community.
The alpha posters grew discontented by their influence and thus became experts and put up shingles where they could get more attention and monetize their knowledge. Often their knowledge was inverse of what was happening. Throngs of people were able to make the leap from an opinion to expert and influencer based on personality rather than content.
On social media, you’re given the illusion of ownership of your space. If you don’t like counter opinions showing up, you can block. That’s different than handling trolls.
So if Hillary Clinton wants to troll the public, she can block all comments. And she did. No interference.
Thus social media is a poor proxy for freedom of expression and adult dialectic exchange.
Message boards are inconvenient for people with strong opinions with no argument. People don’t like their idea’s taken to task even if it’s respectful and the counter opinion is a diligent, well reasoned case. Doesn’t matter. People never were trained to handle well reasoned push back. They get triggered.

There must be a elder. A wise leader. A center which is Mr. Farrell. No fixing necessary in that department. Otherwise it’s Lord of the Flies. You need some form of government. Anarchy doesn’t work well in the private sector.
Every community I’ve been in without a wise elder… fails. It becomes lord of the flies. No exceptions in my anecdotal experience. Doesn’t matter what the topic.

Totally agree. Hence the parade of exiting ex-employees of those AI organisations, just as whistle-blowers say in the UFO disclosure saga. The honeytraps. This would serve several surveillance purposes, not just for AI activists but for any and all other current and future pro-humanity/life, anti-authoritarian, nationalist or traditionalist activists.
It would also ensure that Anthropic and ChatGPT have no competition. And all small competitors are regulated out of the market
