Apparently Canadian buildings can fart

“Canada has vowed to slash emissions from the building sector by 37 per cent by 2030 and then achieve net-zero in the sector by 2050.”

First paragraph: “Seven years after construction started, a 34-acre plot of once-contaminated industrial land in the middle of the Ottawa River is being celebrated as the most sustainable community in Canada.”

Where did all the contaminants go? What did those contaminants consist of? Not a word…but its all good because net zero can be seen on the horizon (if the taxpayers kick in a few bucks) ! :upside_down_face:

Check out the comment section…not everyone agrees. One commenter states the initial cleanup cost $60 million with the feds picking up the tab.

Here’s a little more information:

“Zibi’s location is unparalleled. No other community boasts 34 acres of waterfront in the downtown cores of both Ottawa and Gatineau. Framed by Portage Bridge and Waterfront Quarter to the East and Chaudière Crossing and Albert Island to the West, this master-planned community will provide unprecedented connectivity to both cities and offer stunning views of the falls and Parliament Hill.”

Sounds like a good place to become a “smart city”. I wonder if this is part of the reason the waterfront smart city was put on hold in Toronto.
