Northern Ireland is not in the EU, its part of the UK. Well now we know.
Germany and France want form the E6 led two tier EU. https://www.bundesfinanzministerium.de/…/2026-01-28-e6…
Ireland will not be a member of this leading group but expected to continue as a 10Billion euro/6 billion euro nett contributor to the EU club.
At the same time Ursula Von Der Leyen wants to remove the member state veto rights on items such areas as foreign policy/military action.
Not just this the EU but wants to introduce qualified majority voting, which will that E6 countries will always be able to overrule the other 21 member states.
FG MEPs are supporting this. FF have remained silent but we can guess their intention too.
This effectively ends the purpose and content of both the Lisbon Treaty and Maastricht Treaty.
There now needs to be a referendum to decide Ireland’s continued membership and whether it is mandated any longer.
We have moved too far from an economic trading block, and for me we should only at most return to that position, but perhaps start looking to trade agreements with with BRICS countries (47 countries actually members or in assessment for same, with now with possibly up to 120 plus countries in the pipeline for membership).
The writing has been on the wall for time now, but now it is written in large neon lights for all to see.
Should the above EU plans realise, will have lost our standing in the EU, control of our foreign policy, control our border , control over government spending , and may well be dragged into military conflicts over we have no control or desire to join. Most of all we may lose ability to trade independently with other economic blocs and regions while still paying for all of that “privilege” shackled to a financial black hole that is the financially bankrupt EU.
