Back in the day

;… I played a lot of pipe organs, including the big 4 manual Phelps tracker at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, so I’ve had that rare thrill that organists get when they have 32 foot pedal ranks to play around with (and, importantly, FEEL). I’ve been enjoying the performances of the German concert organist Felix Hell lately, and here he is again, demonstrating the even rarer 64 foot pedal stop (and when he says “resultant”, he means that the resonator on the pipe is CAPPED, which doubles the fundamental resonator length, sounding the note an octave lower than its open resonator equivalent): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JFTqT-jR4Qc

This is a very good video and a nice series of other shorts that ends with a collection of inspiring songs accompanied by other inspiring songs, violins and piano music.
