possibly these were not full-fledged orcas, but orcs, so they haven’t learnt yet to behave.
otherwise the question is good, but i do not think that historically this is the first time orcas attacked humans. i mean just at look at how WE behave…
There was quite a lot of wind and seas so I am wondering what sounds were emanating from the sailboat? I have to believe this was a factor since whales (all) are very sensitive to sound. You could hear the sails flapping so I have to believe this might have been transmitted to the keel from the mast
Maybe they shouldn’t have been called “killer” whales…
as if the sperm-whales would be the good guys, hm?
they got sperm instead of killer.
i wonder what would the giant calamaris say unto that… it’s a racial feud, very undemocratic.
Sound travels 3 times faster in water . I was a scuba diver and the noise boats make , even kilometers away , is emmence ! Every time I see a speedboat , I think the seals and smaller whales that used to be in the bays in my area cant comunicate or detect pray or whatever - so they stay away . Even though it was a sailingboat in question , they may not destinquish the difference . All the sonar - anti - submarine and other control devises , all over the world , may pester their lives . Just a thought - it may be all wrong - I didn
t make a PhD in that either - too busy living .
About time!
Remember those birds tearing those 5G wires apart?
Some animals are leading by example.
Orca’s backyard is being invaded by all kinds of unwanted electromagnetic energies.
I think their intelligence, tells them what species is orchestrating the “new” environment.
Now, they just need to team-up: birds, mammals, reptiles, and the rest of the biosphere.
Write a few “new” chapters themselves.

"However, as the data continues to accumulate, Burbeck and others are starting to understand more about the Orcas’ motivation.
“The Orcas can have three motivations when they approach the boat (competition for speed, curiosity, and skill, for example) and when they stop the boat, we are reducing the motivations to two. That is the reason for stopping the ship. If we increase the speed, in addition to not reducing motivations, we are increasing a new one: increased activity, blood pressure, adrenaline and excitement. At this point, things can get dangerous."
In other words, minimizing the factors that seem to encourage an Orca attack might be the key. Avoiding black anti-fouling , traveling at higher speeds through known areas, and staying in shallow water may all help reduce interactions. This, in turn, will discourage the enjoyment Orcas are seemingly getting, which only leads to more attacks.
Burbeck summed it up nicely, stating: “A euphoric Orca after having beaten the ship in speed and stopped the ship with the broken rudder, will be drunk with victory, therefore increasing his feeling of power and consequently his danger."
so it seems like gang/bully behavior to attack a potential threat.
oh, i am inclined to believe that.
Humans are a lot more than a “potential” threat to whales, in case people have forgotten they used to be killed just for oil to light street lamps.
Most likely these boats were just been taken out because they had illegally crossed some undersea border without the correct paperwork for that.
Orcas are very intelligent, here is a story of about thirty whales who surrounded a ferry that was transporting some tribal artifacts across puget sound.
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/puget-sound-orcas-circle-ferry-carrying-artifacts/
"A large pod of orcas swam around a Washington state ferry in an impressive display as it happened to be carrying tribal artifacts to a new museum at the ancestral home of Chief Seattle, and some people think it was more than a coincidence.
Killer whales have been thrilling whale watchers this week in Puget Sound, according to the Orca Network, which tracks sightings.
But they were especially exciting Tuesday when nearly three-dozen orcas surrounded the ferry from Seattle as it approached the terminal on Bainbridge Island. On board were officials from The Burke Museum in Seattle who were moving ancient artifacts to the Suquamish Museum.
The artifacts were dug up nearly 60 years ago from the site of the Old Man House, the winter village for the Suquamish tribe and home of Chief Sealth, also known as Chief Seattle. The Burke, a natural history museum on the University of Washington campus, is known for Northwest Coast and Alaska Native art.
Also on board the state ferry was Suquamish Tribal Chairman Leonard Forsman who happened to be returning from an unrelated event. As the ferry slowed near the terminal, it was surrounded by the orcas, Forsman said Wednesday."
Maybe they have mistaken these boats for sharks.
Didn’t Joseph predict nature would step in? The G’s are off the scale and a danger to all nature.
That, or they work for the Russians but only Westeners would believe such nonsense.
Mice sometimes make nests on top of water heaters to avoid frost, not all technology is bad.
Some 5G bands are lower radiation frequencies than those used in 4 or 3G, but no one ever mentions that all of the focus is on everything being bad, this is tiring.
I usually only use 4G but there are a lot of cell dead zones where it’s not possible to make a phone call with 4G, sometimes there is low-band 5g coverage that will work where there is no other signal.
Has anybody here actually seen a video or photograph of a damaged or sunken boat?
I did a search and found only a blurry image of “something” and the so called attack videos only shows Orcas swimming alongside a boat.
there is a video of a couple claiming the Orcas destroyed the rudder of their boat but the images clearly show a perfectly intact rudder.
No, these are probably just made up stories for fraudulent insurance claims.
Better hope your lawyer wrote in that destruction by whale attack claims are covered for purchase of a new boat that is correctly built to withstand whale flipper slaps.
they have evolved to understand the existential threat of humans and teach it to one another, no doubt after senseless acts and accidents of cruelty, suffering, exploitation and death to their kind.
I did see a video of it- a family on a boat, it was rammed, they had b&w raw footage and were very scared, calling SOS. At the end there was a pic of the broken hull.
Not saying it isn’t a psy op or is, can’t tell anything these days for sure without a close look. if I come across it again I’ll post it but it can probably be found with quick you tube search.
I can believe whales are attacking boats but they won’t usually attack people, so an effective defense for this might be for people to just hop in the water and then the whales might stop attacking their boat.
