The ‘lifecycle’ carbon footprint analysis found ‘infrastructure’ is the big contributor to the higher footprint. Most home gardeners, almost all of them tend to use repurposed materials to construct their gardens. The idea of buying new materials to build garden structures (other than say, wood planks for raised beds) goes against the thrifty nature of home gardeners. Home gardeners actually are taking a load off the landfills not contributing to global warming.

What a cartload of baloney… I guess fertilizer runoff, soil depletion, and pesticide drift are all hunky-dory. They just want us all dependent on corporate food, obviously. This reminds me of another story out of the UK awhile back demonizing people who raised their own chickens.
