There are many stories about a supposed life of Adolf Hitler and other Nazi leaders in San Carlos de Bariloche and different corners of the country. Of all of them, Carlos Perciavalle narrated in the first person what for him and his great friend China Zorrilla was a certainty: he ran into the Fuhrer himself and his wife Eva Braun .
The curious thing about the case is that Carlos Ernesto Perciavalle Bustamante did not say he had met Hitler once, but three times. The Uruguayan artist, born on May 16, 1941 in Montevideo, gave details of one of those crossings in a video that he posted at the end of 2022 on his Instagram account. There he titled “The day we were with La China Zorrilla in Bariloche and we saw Hitler… Terrifying!” .
And she recounted the event this way with her great friend: “We were having tea with China Zorrilla in the restaurant of a very nice hotel in Bariloche and the waiter told us that since we were very important artists who came from Buenos Aires, the owner of the place wanted to meet us. He told us that he lived next door and out of pure rabble we went to meet him.”
Carlos Perciavalle, China Zorrilla and a terrifying encounter
The two Uruguayan artists, when they finished enjoying their tea at the El Casco hotel restaurant, walked to an immense mansion where a party was taking place in which everyone spoke in German. According to the memory of the king of the café concert, a dozen Doberman dogs came barking up to the great gate to give them a strange welcome, and a loud German voice silenced them.

The Uruguayan actor told the curious episode on his social networks.
Once inside a large hall, they found about 300 Germans. Among them were nothing more and nothing less than Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun , his assistant and lover with whom both had supposedly committed suicide on April 30, 1945.
According to the memory of the actor, producer and theater director, the two were sitting next to a large table next to a huge central window with a beautiful view of Lake Nahuel Huapi.

“I did not shake his hand nor would I have given it to him, of course. I saw it from afar, but China went pale, she looked at me and told the owner of the place that the party was very nice, ”she recalled. She said that she left immediately because everything they saw in those moments was “terrifying and chilling” and she left them unable to speak for a long time.
Opinions for and against
The Barilochense journalist and writer Abel Basti was always one of the main promoters of the hypothesis that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun did not commit suicide, but rather escaped to the beautiful city next to the Andes Mountains. And that between 1945 and at least 1956 they lived on the San Ramón ranch.

Thus, the historian was the first to support the artist’s account. In the same way, many other followers confirmed that the sinister German leader had been seen not only in Bariloche but also in Córdoba.
Instead, there were many people who made fun of her in the comments on her Instagram post. "I saw Napoleon drinking beer in Florencio Varela and I don’t do that much circus ," wrote one.
The artist told this story three times already. The first time was on a Uruguayan radio program in 2014 and the second, on ESPN’s Pura Química program , the following year. The last story of him, always identical, was on social networks. He has no doubts, apparently, of what happened.
On that second occasion, Carlos Perciavalle recalled that when he returned to Bariloche in 2001, he stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss, where an elderly German man worked at the restaurant cashier. He told her his story and the man confirmed: “All the Germans who live in Bariloche know that the Fuhrer lived six months in Argentina and six months in Chile.”
