… The Closure of Hong Kong's Bookshops Shows That Beijing is Tightening its Grip – The Daily Sceptic
Regime changes today happen slowly over time so as not to startle or cause concern. The vestiges of the prior regime are slowly removed and opponents silenced with self-censorship or they loose their livelihood. Killing them is too obvious and old school.
I’m reminded of the scene in the movie “ Fahrenheit 451” of Edward G Robinson’s apartment filled with illegal hard copies of books and news articles. He is the researcher for Charleston Heston’s character.
What is DSA?
I was heartened to read the other week, that people prefer hard copy books to ebooks still. And for the literate few that remain, they are still selling well.
Not like the heyday of the paperback, I would say, the 70s and 80s, but still well compared to e-crap.
… DSA = Democratic Socialists of America. I use the word “scary” (In Freud’s sense) to describe this group.
Like ‘uncanny’?
Yes that sounds right.
TBH when I heard Dr. F. talkin about the ‘microchip’ people in WA today, and thinking about this type of ‘Socialist’ it reminded me of nothing more than autism.
This weird, somewhat frightening, beyond-childlike, into almost psychotic toddler-ism, which craves being controlled and thought, for, instead of by themselves…its really…beyond scary into some kind of horror film.
Where you find out the person is not ‘all there’ and behind the scenes they have been doing all this unGodly stuff, and honestly thinking that it has been ‘for the best’ . . .
… read around on their website. You’ll see what I mean by “scary”.
I find ignorance , especially the ‘Death Mother’ kind of smothering and control, extremely scary.
… they are very strange indeed.
