I think this NASA statement, IF they said it at all, is a complete LIE.
I do not think there is a dispute about the existence of new craters. historical mapping exists.
The background COULD be competition between the present NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter control versus a US Space Force Lunar Reconnaissance controlled future op situation. I imagine controlling space surveillance is in the mix.
