Closing of Catholic Churches and Catholic Church to Mosque conversions

… from the article "The Diocese of Buffalo, which comprises eight counties in western New York, has not been without controversy in recent years. In 2022, a historic, 164-year-old church in the diocese was sold to a Muslim group for use as a mosque for $250,000 after refusing proposals to reuse it as a church. The sale was criticized by laity for allegedly being in violation of the 1983 Code of Canon Law.

St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church was similarly sold in 2017 and converted to a mosque."

I’ve not read the article, but there are ancient canons to the effect that bishops may NOT alienate the property of the Church.

Real signs of the Inside Takeover! Let’s hope local communities keep a lookout & manage their own affairs!!

… if that is the case then either the “ancient canons” are being intentionally violated or those reports of churches being sold and converted to Mosques are false.

My money is on they’re being intentionally violated… I’ve seen too much in the Episcopal Church and Orthodoxy…I could fill several volumes, and my Roman C. friends tell me it’s much the same there.

… so sad … no common sense anymore I guess. I guess it turns out that it is true that one can not serve both God and Mammon.

As far as I can tell, based on the images in the Vatican, both Catholicism and Islam are serving the same supreme and he ain’t God.

Let’s face it…the “God” of the Old Testament is NOT The Creator of All & a whole system of operation has been built upon that false premise!!

… and just this morning … seems like 2 or 3 paintings/sculptures from the Vatican Collection would pay to fund the settlement. Maybe the Vatican could look into selling the naming rights for various Vatican owned buildings. For example … Viagra St. Peters Basilica. That alone has to be worth 300 million.

Oh heavens what good would come of selling sacred valuable church bric-a-brac to pay money to the poor souls mistreated by the Pope’s ruffians. Why that’s like paying the customers who cheated prostitutes out their wages of sin. The abused is thus made a sinner by takin money in exchange for what happened…
