… Isn’t it interesting that none of these former military talking heads ever suggests useful activities such as people organizing militias (or other types of protective organizations) within the US. I guess if they accidentally discuss actions that one might take based on the Bill of Rights, actions that might actually make a difference they wouldn’t be able to obtain funding to continue their talking head podcasts. If you think about it they are able to obtain continued funding only if they waste the time of their listeners by discussing events (not actions) that will in no way change a single thing about your daily life or the future of your country.

The military has been running things for an awful long time. The last thing the military wants is the plebs to riot or fight back. They have the monopoly on violence.

… they do have a monopoly on heavy weapons and armament but … that may not be very useful in asymmetric urban or rural warfare.
Mostly the military types in the podcasts, are former political appointments as well. So there’s the point. They will not tend towards anything other than political solutions, not saying whether they’re correct or incorrect in their analysis but that this will be the default paradigm. A hammer needs a nail.
… I wish we lived in a world where “political” solutions were still possible … but we just do not.

They do seem to constantly reference the von Clausewitz quotation, variously cited, "all war is politics by other means. When what he actually said "We see, therefore, that War is not merely a political act, but also a real political instrument, a continuation of political commerce, a carrying out of the same by other means. "
