An extradition treaty w/China means death to those fleeing tyranny[religious, or otherwise].
China’s conviction rate is as close to 100%, as it gets in the galaxy.
It sets a dangerous precedent.

Perhaps they’re sending a message:
New Zealand isn’t a safe harbor for those fleeing China’s growing technocratic totalitarian tyranny.

Based on its behavior toward its own citizens in recent times, another way to read New Zealand’s message is: We, like some of our Australian neighbors, embrace Chinese-style totalitarian tyranny.
