Dark WInter Coming

Dark winter is here.
30 % of all US households are behind on the elecrticity bill.
Bankruptcies are towering up, food prices high as a mother, and fuel,food and all parts of living will just continue to get more expensive.
To add to this already scary scene, theres nuclear war, more viruses(fake and real) ,vaxes, famine and ,well,the list is long.
People are starting to give up on their pets as they cant afford them and those who are trying to sell belongings cant, cause no one has the extra dollar to purchase, except the 1% elite of course ,who has designed this crash.
Where Im going with this is that i want input on what are the best way to move forward in the this terrain?
I would love ti hear peoples tips and tricks for hard times as these, as I dont have lots of ideas personally but to pray and work.hard.
What steps have you taken what /will you do these months/years ahead?
All love and good thoughts to ou and your loved ones.
Take care of each other.

I can offer only general ideas because i dont know your situation personaly. Easiest thing to do to save money is to let go of unmecessary expenses ie. Buying alcohol for weekends or eating at restaurants often.

As to working, if in any way possible try to be smarter about things. For example, instead of working overtime whenever possible try to look for alternative income sources. Yes it takes effort and time and energy to do amidst all things but can bear fruit in the future.

And lastly your general state of mind. The world and it’s events are mostly out of our hands. Consciously working to accept and appreciate this can give peace of mind to some extent. You can try to apply spiritual practises to your life if you find them interesting. You can control how you see and think of anything, so use that power over the self to let go of the world’s goings on.

I hope something here can help.

Winter like winter.
Always coming and going away.
Strenghten you mind.
Focus on the things of matter to you.
First and most important on your basic needs.
Shelter,food ,clear water,warmth, friendly neighbors ,all time enabled comunication devices, then music and some books.
Thats all.
P.S,
Think in terms and /or the ways of the first Abydos expedition group in the film Stargate 1994.

The main strategy I tend to employ is to stay calm, that is to say, in a state of serene detachment. Serendipity follows the serene. The limpid pool foretells the incoming.
Being graceful allows one to receive grace. This spoken from experience.

There is only abundance, ā€œlackā€ is an evil psyop. ā€œā€¦Dance as if no-one is watchingā€¦ā€ is part of one quote I might mention —— look it up.

Humour is a powerful weapon one may use to great advantage. Generosity: if one looks at how people lived in hard times before, it was often remarked that those who had the least were always the first to offer to share their meagre meal with a visiting stranger.

As for tactics, I value the sage advice of Sir* Francis Bacon:

  1. Love all[ who you come near]
  2. Be kind to many
  3. Trust a few.

Hope this helps.

If you want practical tips I tend to find those in Financial Rebllion.

I have stocked up on food. The usual, rice, cerials, various porriges.
I invested in a humidifier because it is very humid where I live so I can go longer without turning the heater on. Have some of your favorite books when the electricity cuts at hand, at least you can read during the day.

Cut expences you really don’t need like TV, netflix ect. Same for magazines.

I tend to pray, but that is not for everybody. Keep humor up. Watch something uplifting like Babylon 5 whilst you still can.

All the best to you Sphinx, you are not alone in this predicament!

My two cents’ worth:

  • Strictly limit time, attention, and credence given to the news, whether from mainstream sources or not
  • Invest time and attention in building or nurturing a mutual-support network of family, friends, and/or just local acquaintances and contacts
  • Figure out how to get healthy food more affordably and, if possible, locally: through local farmers or farmers markets, small farms or companies that sell healthy food online, buying in bulk, learning to grow some of your own food, etc.
  • Get outdoors and reconnect with the natural world (leave your phone at home or put it in silent mode)
  • Try to do something pleasant but inexpensive, no matter how insignificant it may seem, for at least a few minutes each day
  • Remember the good things you do have and be grateful for them. For instance, most people in the developed world aren’t actually dying of starvation or having bombs dropped in their neighborhood. Not everybody on the planet can say that. Those are things to be grateful for. If you already have a loving, supportive network of people, that’s something to be really grateful for.

My two cents is we are all in this together, you are not alone.

I personally in the last six months had an on-demand Generac generator installed (ordered it six months ago). Had a small under the sink counter reverse osmosis installed for my well water. Bought a small 3.8 cubic foot deep freezer and bought some meat. Stocked up on can goods and rice/flour, etc. If This isn’t enough then I lose. I’m done! I prepared myself for bad weather which hopefully won’t last forever.

For my mental health….let’s just say I have a lot to work on LOL. I am very bitter right now and will work on that serendipity thing.

generac motors aren’t all that reliable and some technicians won’t even service those when they fail I’d reccomend a honda generator they are much better

maybe the newer ones are better but I’ve had difficulty with some of the older ones they can be high maintenance

@Bahri thanks for the tip. It’s too late the generator is installed, however we kept our old gas generator for a back up. I did hear bad things about Generac but we really like our dealer who is local and they work hand-in-hand with our propane guys. Plus I wanted On Demand.

We have a back up for our back upšŸ˜‚

I’ve read all the comments up to this point & granted, everyone is entitled to their opinion, therefore, let me be the first to drop a contrary bomb upon you.

I don’t think I’ve ever been as proud to be a human being (yes, I am human) as I was while watching The Sri Lankans chase the corrupt bastads out of town, amassed in groups, of one goal.

Everyone can keep their peace, love, health food, books, flower-power - Whatever! The ONLY chance we have of surviving all to come and RESTORING Our Freedom is to ā€œDo The Sri Lankaā€ and that means continuing to wake people up & spur them to action.

You’re scared, huh @Sphinx? GOOD! You should be! I’m definitely scared, but I’m more scared of living in a giant concentration camp than striking out on my own. The unknown is always scary; that’s why we’re sitting on our a$$es doing nothing.

You’ll know if you’re doing the right thing when your friends & family begin to turn against you; maybe to the point you find yourself alone. When people see you coming & roll their eyes & turn the other way; and you might endure years of this. My best friend of 51 yrs. scoffed for weeks when I emailed my personal group in Dec. 2019 & told them to get ready, The US, Canada & Mexico were going to shut down, using the excuse of some sort of ā€œcontagionā€ Well, hell, I was wrong, what can I say. Fortunately, most were stocked enough to be ready for it, but some weren’t & of course, I don’t hear from them anymore. Those who don’t communicate with me are now on my ā€œnarcā€ list.

Wake as many as we can. Try to gather into groups. Go to council meetings, neighborhood watch meetings; you’ll begin to meet the right sorts. Some of the people who spurned you will end up returning to you ā€œjust in passingā€ & want to know more, tell them just enough to get them moving; you’ll know when it’s right. Intuition is a Gift of God & He gave it to all of us.

Nobody knows exactly what the future will bring. I might be displaced & washing windshields, going hungry, or, get killed, but all of us know intuitively, that’s our collective destiny if we don’t do something as quickly as possible. The ONLY way to get rid of these terrors is to chase them out. They will keep returning & we’ll have to keep chasing them out. There are no guarantees of another breath to be taken and my rose garden has thorns.

Since people here are somewhat into music videos, let me leave you one about what our forefathers & the world went through during times of war. The unfortunately left-of-center group who recorded it did a fine job & in this regard, it is truth.

DO THE SRI LANKA! ā€œThe madmen come againā€¦ā€

I won’t drop contrary bombs on you; Our situation is so completely different than Sri Lanka’s that it would be absurd for me the even comment at this point. Especially after the Jan 6th ordeal…

Most wonderful to have people’s differing perspectives on this sombre topic.

Considering myself also a bit of a pragmatist, the following comes to mind:

  1. to plan for one’s mission objectives thoroughly and with the utmost rigour;
  2. to prepare for even the most unexpected, unthinkable and impossibly absurd contingencies, and then implement triple redundncy where at all feasible;
  3. to strive and desire to be ready and able, and above all willing, to face unknown circumstances, knowing that they will arise;
  4. to realize that mission success is compromised in most cases by a lack of equanimity and perspective, as well as of course by dejection/despair;
  5. to persist in seeing it through to the end, if not further.

Life lessons true, taken from, amongst others, real-life detectives, the espionage world, and NASA. They do work in real life.

Thanks to mr. @Sphinx for starting this thread!

Take it or not for what it’s worth. The only way to get rid of them is to chase them out.

@WuWu NOBODY is prepared for what’s coming.

Preparation for the worst one can imagine is all one can do( as preparation).

On-Demand is good so you don’t lose power all of a sudden with out warning when the grid fails.

Where I’m from the power went out quite often and would usually take a few days for crews to repair the lines destroyed by fallen trees in storms, usually we’d just run a generator for a few hours a day to run the well to fill up water tanks and power fridges/freezers.

I might have messed up one of the generac motors myself by turning this upside down to get some of the old fuel out that had gone bad, couldn’t get it running again after that and lost some fish because wasn’t able to power the freezer that was too bad always a good idea to have a freezer full of fish as long as you still have power.
