Recently came upon a term “illiberal” countries, evidently it means back sliding democracies. They are on the rise and a group is tracking the phenomenon.
If, as page 10 of the report claims, France (where the president rules virtually by diktat, lets the police maim protesters, and uses the judiciary to attack his political rivals) is in the top 10% of democracies, and Italy (lead twice by unelected banksters imposed by the EU), Greece (where a president was unable to fend off German/EU “austerity” measures despite the voters’ will), and the U.S. (no comment) are in the top 20%, they must be using a very strange definition of “democracy”! And I leave aside the fact that the U.S. was never supposed to be a democracy in the first place, but a democratic republic.
