Luckily there are no GMO grown in Ireland, but foodstuffs grown with or including GMO crops can come through for retail consumption. The Food Safety Agency is supposedly the gatekeeper on these imported foodstuffs which come from USA, Brazil etc. Most people won’t buy these as organically grown non GMO food is the norm and is very clearly labelled. In time though, I have no doubt that push back from Irish agriculture, may be overridden by the EU at some future time.

Good to know. I purchase and use Kerrygold butter in my household because the butter is supposedly made from grass fed cows that have not been contaminated with artificial hormones, no stamp of “organic certification”. The price is twice the price of the butter labeled organic.

All animals including cows are pretty much grass-fed in Ireland. Most poultry is free range. All Irish butter direct from cows is organic, though organic isn’t really considered as a thing for most Irish food, it’s just expected and protected.

I also really enjoy the Kerrygold cheeses, especially the Reserve cheddar. mmm
just a bit o crusty bread and that and you have a good weekend snack.

I am glad to hear of this court ruling; we make sure to check all of our purchases for not only corn syrup, and MSG, but also ‘bioengineered food ingredient’
Generally the culprit is either corn or soy.

When I see the words “natural ingredients” as part of ingredients on the label of products which does not tell what they are sends a red flag in my book, not in my shopping cart does it go.

THE CLINCHER is whatever I read recently about them not labelling Organic properly.
Question is , is this also true of Non GMO labels?
