Howdy,
I just watched Spielberg’s new work at the cinema on Sunday. It was a nice excuse to go out, since we usually don’t on Sunday nights, because my Mom got us some gift cards.
I always enjoy seeing movies on the big screen, but I was shocked at the pricing for 2 non-matinee tickets ($42 and change).
The film is an enjoyable, typical Spielbergian romp, complete with ‘evil shadow government,’ a bumbling male character (emasculation), female empowerment, action scenes, chase scenes, and a very nice soundtrack by John Williams. I had to look it up, but it does sound like him, he still ‘got it.’
There is a lot of suspension of disbelief in the scene with the car and the train, as far as real life physics, but overall it is a solid film, for this day and age.
I give it an 8 out of 10.
That said, there is a huge push in the narrative of this film to conform with the US GOV official narrative that the UAP/UFO/ET is ‘god-like’ and very physically advanced, with technology, and can use us like puppets. There is the demonic angle not shown, but it could be hinted at, due to their use of human subjects.
The film shows that these Visitors to our dimension or Solar System (it is not really explained their origin) are mostly physical in nature, and only rely on advanced technology to affect their reality, with nothing of intellect or even more importantly, of spirit. It is only through being abducted by these ET’s as children, that characters like Margaret are able to have (latent) psychic abilities.
It is not clear if Spielberg thinks humanity has spiritual power or not, but the film over and over focusses on the helplessness, and greed of humanity, in the face of the advanced technology of the ET, and their (intuited) superior society of empathy which (ostensibly) allows them to travel among the stars.
Scanlon, the shadow GOV/corporate antagonist, and the protagonist Margaret are only able to communicate with each other due to a physical device, recovered from the Roswell Crash in 1947.
The film seems to be showing that humanity can only awaken it’s spiritual power with the intermediary of physical nonhuman beings in physical craft, using physical technology.
In the film I feel that there is the typical 80/20% mix of soft truth, largely useless info, and hardcore disinformation and lies,. so used and beloved of GOV stooges like Richard Doty, and presumably Lou Elizondo .
The 80% truth is the fact that humanity is powerful, and does have latent spiritual ability to affect physical reality, such as psychic communication, telekinesis, faster than light travel, time travel etc. That our empathy and (intuited) soul are what is important.
The lies are that we must rely on the ET as an external saviour.
The lie is that they are more powerful than us.
Another lie is that they are just purely physical beings in physical craft, instead of innately nonphysical and spiritual beings.
The greater lie is that we cannot access the spiritual power without the (fake) god, Technology.
So that is my reading of the film.
Enjoyable, but so much propaganda.
