Heya, and let me start by saying I hope you and yours get the best of years 2024.
I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips that can help relax my dog tomorrow?
She’s a 55 kg Cane Corso/ Rottweiler mix and her need to guard and secure the premises is out of this world.
I guess she gets extra freaked out when she feels she can’t do her job in that regard; once those loud bangs and weird lights set the sky on fire, it’s only so much she can do about it.
Last year she was a nerve wreck for 4 days straight after, and if we can avoid that this year, that would be the best start possible for us.
I know some have good experiences with calming meds, but our veterinarian, who is not just very qualified but also a very nice person ( and super cute I may add), said that with guard dogs like her, this can have a backfiring effect as they might feel scared by the situation and double scared by being sedated and feel “trapped”,so she wouldn’t recommend that in her case.
So if you have any tips for Nemi, she would appreciate it and send boop’s back, and If it makes my life easier as well, you can have a “boop” from me too
Sadly I think 2024 will be a more bumpy ride than even the most negative minded people predict, but that’s another post for a later time.
Now it’s all about getting my 4paw safe into January.
Happy new year to you and yours!
