Fill a glass with ice cubes. Then top it up to the brim with water. Wait for the ice cubes to melt. Does the glass overflow once the ice cubes are completely melted? Nope, water contracts as it melts. This may not be an exact comparison to a melting glacier but “its close enough for the girls I go with”. Its all part of the cycle of water thanks to Mother Nature.
Fingernails? anthropomorphizing a glacier? More scaremongering headlines … if so, why would real estate developers be buying up beachfront property for high priced condos?

That is the first thing I looked for, whether this was ice floating on the water, or a glacier on land that might slide off:
