Your book “Nazi International” keeps coming to mind, given how well-coordinated these things seem to be unfolding, worldwide. We also see disturbing things unfolding in Canada, with the hate speech legislation that is being pushed (and for which there is now also a petition in parliament which asks to stop proceeding with that legislation).

Some Canadians are following the notorious (former) Professor France Widdowson’s travels to university campuses across Canada – where she tries to talk about a political claim that is being made to justify the creation of government policies that are at odds with property rights in Canada. No university will give her a room to talk, so she has been conducting these talks, informally, outdoors on the campuses with anyone who will engage. The latest episode occurred at the University of Victoria, a few weeks ago, where she was arrested, even before she engaged with anyone, simply for the crime of intending to talk about this controversial matter. The one thing that anyone notices when observing Professor Widdowson’s journeys to university campuses, is how very well-organized large groups of activists show up to drum loudly and shout her down so that she is unable to say anything, let alone be able to hold any kind of conversation at all.

The American (former) professor Peter Boghossian had a conversation with (former) Canadian Professor Frances Widdowson about her experiences with the erosion of free speech on university campuses.
