somebody speculated that the breaking point for elon to buy twitter occurred when twitter censored babylon bee. elon is a bee fan. could be. many other reasons as well.
well-well. he said, he would make it ‘more inclusive’, along other important matters…
never had twitter before. should i?
I never had it either, dear kalamona. Alicia
old bones since youthdom i have
got my mobile once stolen from me although. train-station, begging-junkie. very good ericsson, everything-proof, sharknado antenna on top. oh boy, was i rambling ‘me idiot’ thrice… never really get emotionally near to the handphones anymore and sucked into the smartie’s mysterious ways. i use them to talk and text, (okay, sudoku and solitaire plays). i see my cousins and neices and my kids, into their own-customized mini-trap. and a very good one. ;-(
Twitter was losing viewership for years. Other sources, gab, getter, telegram, are slowly but surely carving the bigger piece of pie. Musk is a good PR for them. Now he will bring Trump back, and with jump in a traffic he will make at least double of what he paid. He was always a better businessman than engineer.
good for him. will see the open sourcecode, and the other things he mentioned. maybe i should give it a try?
twitter with a musk of free air? that sounds wierd.
the possible downside is the intention to authenticate users, which is akin to digital ID. on the other hand I am not opposed to removing nuisance bots. fine line.
I have been “in and out” of Twitter for several years starting when CAF made her most recent thoughts known or list of must read article/must see videos. Total wait and see. TruthSocial has just actually passed the beta test and there was a huge jump in members able to participate in the last week.
I totally agree @aurajenn that you must not forget the neuralink man will now own this social media site which already has a large number of followers even though so many have been shut off from commenting. Starting a twitter account may open more than just access…
Whether tech rebel or iconoclast, Musk has increasingly tied his commercial fortunes to Beijing.
Musk was well aware that his companies, especially SpaceX is a “prime target” for Chinese espionage, and Beijing seems to have successfully stolen designs related to the company’s Starship rocket design.
Musk also takes it as a given the Chinese have stolen his Tesla software codes.
But then China built him a massive factory in Shanghai.
In March 2017, China’s government-linked Tencent Holdings bought a 5% stake in Tesla.
Then Beijing rolled out the red-carpet w/Chinese banks coughing up 1.6 billion in government-backed subsidized loans.
The Byzantine Chinese red regulatory red tape to build in China disappeared.
The enormous plant was built less than a year.
Tesla was not only putting manufacturing in China, but also creating design facilities. Musk proposed setting up a design facility and research center in China noting, "In order to achieve a shift from ‘Made in China’ to ‘Designed in China’.
Employees were punished for directly reaching out to Musk[The tesla founder had historically encouraged employees to reach out directly w/problem].
Tesla China has has “aligned itself explicitly w/President Xi Jinping’s economic policies”.
But remember Musk’s company SpaceX has numerous military and intelligence related contracts w/the U.S. government. His company launches rockets for the U.S. Space Force, he builds satellites that track missiles for the Department of Defense, and deploys spy satellites for the NSA, etc., etc.
Twitter was knowingly “Dyed-Red”
Will that change.
Finally, a 2013 Pentagon paper about China’s three warfares[economic, media, and legal] concluded that “21st Century[read 20th-Worst Century] warfare [is] guided by a new and vital dimension: namely, the belief that whose story[narrative] wins may be more important than whose army wins”.
Spotted this, I wonder if they will go “Full Enron or banker” and cook books or purge servers to hide info.
No matter what people think, Elon was the FRONT MONEY on this project. What percentage does BlackRock and/or Vanguard own? Maybe LeeBLanger is on to something.
Epiphany? Nah. Dollars in his eyes, Gizas:
Dorsey owns lots of shares and Musk gave a nice price for buyout.
it is a twitter reset.
Executive shell games by wall street for penny stinkers.
Dear Elon. What did you have to do to be the “business man” allowed to bring the “credit card” to the internet? How did you get selected for the PayPal gig?
How did you get selected for the Tesla gig? How did your satellites get approved? What does satan smell like?
Nobody wants your lobotomy. Nobody wants to live on mars.
Elon Musk is a loser.
My Morning Muse:
Twitter – quick review and update:
A. In 2020, Twitter blocked links to the New York Post’s story on the Hunter Biden laptop.
B. Now, in 2022, responding to Elon Musk’s recent takeover of Twitter, the President expresses his longstanding concern about the power of social media platforms to spread disinformation.
C. Ergo: Disinformation = Any information not nice about me!
I don’t get this thing Elon said about Twitter being like a town square, I don’t see anything in common between town squares and an app what is he talking about?
