Erich von Däniken dies at 90

Erich von Däniken, author who spawned alien archaeology theory, dies at 90

Sad to hear the news of his passing. He published some amazing work and stoked the ‘alien’ imagination for many … those Nasca lines and petroglyphs were/are fascinating and apparently still unexplained. Perhaps he has found some answers on ‘the other side’ … truth or fiction, it was entertaining.

Thanks for sharing, Margaret – we’ve enjoyed reading some of his books, even though we weren’t sure what to make of some of his ideas – can’t discount them either (at least for now, while the world seems so strange, it is easy to be open to hearing about theories about aliens).

It is unfortunate, though, that the article is so very unkind to his memory - it read a bit like a hit piece.

Oh, sad… I remember being 11 or 12, doing a radio competition, and winning one of his books! I was really chuffed, and, at that age it blew my mind… RIP…

One of my uncle’s works, a series of Sci-Fi short stories, was influenced by Von Daniken’s book: “Chariots of the Gods” (along with the bible itself).

“Mohgarr” was a character is these stories. He was a long lived twelve foot tall humanoid robot. A curator of life. His “death” and rebirth were particularly spectacular (at least to me).

RIP Sir…

Ah that is sad, read a few of his earlier books. Wonder what we look like from the other side and who is looking at us with him.
