I thought this was an interesting graphic, shared courtesy of E.G.:
Where are the footnotes for sourcing the graphics on the map? Who published it and why?
Personally my grandfather on my mother’s side was born in Bear Lake Utah. His family came over from England in the late 1800’s via Mormon missionaries who were sent there and offered land and free passage to settle Utah. He married an Irish Catholic who converted to the Mormon religion.
My grandmother on my dad’s side was a child of a German immigrant who came in via Galveston Island Texas who married an American native from an Oklahoma Indian reservation. Lo and behold thats makes me a mutt.
None that I am aware, however I think it is accurate given that one orange county in Northwest Iowa right next to South Dakota, because that’s an area I grew up in, and that county of Iowa is VERY Dutch… lol
Is that a Portuguese enclave in California?! lol
Looks like it… though as BIll points out there’s no sourcing here. But speaking as someone who grew up in the southeast corner of South Dakota, I can tell you that the state is very German, and that corner of Iowa is very Dutch! lol
I lived in Northeastern South Dakota for a few years and encountered many German and a few Norwegian folks. I suppose due to the closeness of Minnesota for the Norwegian ones.
Yup there are also some Dutch up there around Milbank…and in that part of South Dakota and Minnesota, you’ll also hear this one: “Uffda!”
Surprised to see so few Irish!
Late 1800’s I’m sure there would be a large percentage of Irish/Scots&Welsh compared to modern day.
Well since the Ulster Scots are Irish descended (Dal Riada realm) and Scoti was an ancient term to describe Irish tribes. Also in much of Western Scotland Isle of Man (Manx) the culture and language (Gaelic) is old Irish …culturally close enough to qualify

And the Hitler supporters during the Pan-Germanic consolidation purported all the northern tribes originated from Germany and spread out from there, hence the goal of purification after interbreeding over time.
Yes, but this lives off the other continents. Particularly, Africa!
Me thinks the Cosmic War survivors took earth as their new beginning spot. They used the available resources, altered them as needed, and are still engaged in the war. I have the purchase of another role of aluminum foil on my shopping list.
… Yes, one can never have too many hats.
According to the map (and rumor) it looks like I’ve got some German and English in me…The German would explain my appreciation for a well-built, bulletproof automobile, the English part of me REALLY loves tea (sweet), and the American in me doesn’t want to pay ANY taxes for it.
