Jonathan Balcombe’s thoughts on longevity of some fishes, and the contribution (as wise teachers) of older fishes to their communities (i.e., those who live in communities). He offers some thoughts about the impact on fish communities when their elders are killed and the young don’t benefit from their teachings.
Makes me ponder, soberly, of what happens to any community, human and non-human, when the wisdom of their elders is not revered…
