False claims over COVID-19 may send folks to prison

In January of 2020, a company named CytoDyn started touting ‘leronlimab’ as a treatment for COVID-19, going so far as to claim the antibody had “saved” dying Covid-19 patients. They falsely made claims about the drug’s positive impact on Covid-19 to investigators from both the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, even though their own data had shown it was ineffective. Now, after being charged with wire and securities fraud, and lying to investigators they are facing decades in prison.
