Casavant is a very well-known Canadian builder, and I actually had the opportunity, just out of high school, to play a small Casavant tracker in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. It was a lovely instrument.
I am reminded here of my trip back to Melbourne for my son’s wedding back in February; together with four of my Filipino family, I planned a short holiday in the city after the wedding…this pic is from our visit to St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, on a small rise in East Melbourne. Church organ is still very much operational and used regularly
Also about preserving the pipe organ, I came across this video channel of a young man in England who visits old village churches and records their (sometimes original) pipe organs … in this video @25 min. he is at Sir Edward Elgar’s home church and ends by playing his inspired ‘Nimrod’ from the Enigma Variations… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DJRxb5nCtA
