This is soo, soo true!!
Many children, particularly, boys are not ready to read until age 8 years.
I have even read about a functional MRI that shows that the part of the brain that is involved in reading is not fully myelinated until age 8 years in 1/3 of boys and 1/5 of girls.
It is as if the curriculum design has the goal of failure of boys!!!
You can tell most parents to start their boy in school a year later, so that their son is actually ready for the curriculum; but, 9/10 parents will not even consider that option. And, then in 1st or 2nd grade they want their son on a stimulant!!!
It is really sad!
