Exploring the merger of Lamarck’s and Darwin’s ideas, I’m intrigued by the concept of a ‘Logos’—a personal, fundamental force—giving rise to what is commonly termed as the ‘Aether’. Having been previously familiar with Gustav Le Bon and his (along with Reich’s) theories of mass psychology, I stumbled upon Le Bon’s sources, Gabriel Tarde. After a bit of rooting around, I discovered he wrote a book called “Underground Man” also the title of a famous work by Fedor Dostoevsky, also on psychology as it pertains to the elevation of man above the divine, you know, I was just curious. Tarde’s version presents a dystopian vision of humanity overwhelmed by an Ice Age—a scenario eerily resonant with today’s concerns about a Grand Solar Minimum. The parallels are striking and warrant listening or reading. Really good.
