General Patton's take on things at the time

“The difficulty in understanding the Russians is that we do not take cognizance of the fact that he is not a European, but an Asiatic, and therefore thinks deviously. We can no more understand a Russian than a Chinaman or a Japanese, and from what I have seen of them, I have no particular desire to understand them, except to ascertain how much lead or iron it takes to kill them. In addition to his other Asiatic characteristics, the Russian has no regard for human life and is an all out son of challenge, barbarian, and chronic drunk.”

Earlier, in May 1945 General Patton noted in his diary:

“In my opinion, the American Army as it now exists could beat the Russians with the greatest of ease, because, while the Russians have good infantry, they are lacking in artillery, air, tanks, and in the knowledge of the use of the combined arms, whereas we excel in all three of these. If it should be necessary to fight the Russians, the sooner we do it the better.”

and a few years later …
“The largest single group supporting the Communist apparatus in the United States today is composed of Protestant clergymen.” - J.B. Mathews “Reds and Our Churches” in the American Mercury, July 1953.

… just sayin’

Why Patton was assassinated.
Wasn’t the Nazis in DC; but the Reds in Command & Control, and in the high brass.
The early globalists, not quite yet in Klaus Schwab bloom.

you forgot one more Scarmoge…

General Pattton 1945: “The Third Army alone with very little help and with damned few casualties, could kick what is left of the Russians in six weeks. You mark my words. Don’t ever forget them… Someday we will have to fight them and it will take six years and cost us six million lives"

Very very racist: “he is not a European, but an Asiatic, and therefore thinks deviously”.

Oh yeah he was racist & made no apologies for it! I can accept that. He’s entitled to be racist & think as he wishes, as is everyone else is entitled to think & feel as they want. That’s what The U.S. Constitution is all about.

Should he had been a general if he was racist?

His military skill determines his position.
You’re also not mindful of the times in which he was born & grew up.
Don’t remember the exact year but think he was born about 1880.
I would venture to say there are numerous people on this site who are racist; they just don’t talk about it. You’re naive if you don’t have that figured out.

You are the one who is naive.
Racism prevents people from getting promoted based on their skills and racist people help each other get promoted.

Okay, whatever you say. I still think you’re not considering the totality of the situation where Patton was concerned, but, whatever.

Yes, he did say S.O.B.

Don’t give up, have a discussion, help me understand the totality

No thanks, you’re entitled to think as you wish.

Really hope you don’t leave. You’re one of the few I like to read, but I respect your decision.

Winston Smith, could count on it.
Even then:
So it is written, when it is said.

My, how Orwellian times have changed.

I must say I look forward to your posts Scarmoge.
I may not always get your deeper meaning, but I look forward to trying to.

Hi ebmason,
I agree that historical contexts can be very easily challenged based on modern perspectives. The past is what it is, it is not perfect and most importantly it is the “past” and in my opinion all we can do is focus on now and the future and be good people.

I come from a country that went through a civil war and I am still sad about what happened there and I re-live it when I see similar things in the news.

A lady from Bosnia that emigrated to Belgrade told me that life is never normal again when you are told to leave your home with just one bag. I didn’t go through anything like this but I know people who had to start from zero and I’ve seen the desperation in their eyes. The only thing that gives some consolation is trying to help them.

The subject was Patton’s racism. As if he were alone in his bent? It’s alive & well today. Here’s the latest.

If anybody by now is listening to the news from RT doesn’t see, that this channel is simply a Kremlin, Putin propaganda. does it to his/hers own peril.
When US unleashed havoc in the ME at least in few years America had accepted several millions of Iraqis and Kurds.
Russia is conducting “peace mission” in Syria for last 10 years, how many Syrian refugees they have accepted to their land? Numbers and facts please.
