Been calling for Ireland to pivot towards BRICS and to loosen ties with EU for years now…it’s the rational thing to do. Now Germany are actually doing just that. With the future costs being placed on Ireland, risk of continued full membership (loss of neutrality, loss of agency, drawn into a war; future appropriation of savings and pensions of citizens; loss of agriculture and fisheries ( etc etc etc) but mostly now for likely being relegated to lower tier membership (under the multi tier EU) while being a nett contributor to the EU, Ireland should follow Germany’s lead. In fact Ireland should have been taking that first mover advantage and lead years ago, except our leaders and officials place their own personal and EU interests ahead of Irish interests its as simple as that. We need to revert to EFTA status now and start doing business with BRICS
