“What’s My Line” best encapsulated what was good about the United States and the entertainment industry in the immediate post WWII era. Civility, attire, etiquette, wit, banter, good taste, and all-around fun were on display in every episode. John Daly was such a wonderful host and gentleman. Regular panel members Arlene Francis and Steve Allen were so engaging with their questions.
The Mystery Guest portion at the end of the programs is a delight. If readers here were to watch the episode below, they would soon understand what I am speaking about.
This episode with Debbie Reynolds (aka Carrie Fisher’s mom) is my favorite.
Thank you ebmason.
You’re most welcome. LOVE the “Sunday night” shows of those years!
Don’t forget Dorothy Kilgallen!
Interesting. Almost finished with The Reporter Who Knew Too Much - Dorthy Killgallon
Wonderful. Don’t forget: “I’ve got a secret” was another great television program of the 1950’s and 1960’s.
Why don’t you start a thread on it?
